GWR Churchward Saint class 4-6-0 no. 2903 Lady of Lyons. Actually not a Saint, but one of the rarer Ladies, with the high steps into the cab. Not one of my more usual high quality products, I’ll admit. But the loco and tender, each acquired separately, are an accurate representation together, to create a model which is well built and runs well.
Describing the loco first, well built from the Scorpio kit, with Slaters wheels, an MSC JH type motor and single stage gear unit and collecting current from copper strip wiper pickups on all driving wheels. The original fully lined green paint is a little worn in places, but still presents well. The inside of the cab is well detailed, as is the backhead. This was acquired by me recently from an auction. The tender supplied with it at that time was a real masterpiece, a Masterpiece Models tender for a Star or Saint class loco, wired for DCC control and in very good condition. Proving that when you buy from auction, what arrives in the post isn’t always what is expected. Somewhere there is a Masterpiece Models Star or Saint class loco that has lost it’s tender. Also if by chance someone has a loco with a damaged tender, I might be able to help.
The tender here for sale has been kit built, the sides and fenders are slightly rippled, but I have seen a lot worse. Otherwise it has been well built and runs well and it’s green paint is a good match with the loco offered, other than it is unlined. I have needed to do little work on this loco/tender pairing, meaning that I can offer it here at a price that offers very good value for money.
